It was a joyful day and the Lord blessed us with sun and warmth as we marched, sang, and spoke on this wonderful day known as Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. The community came out in full support of this celebration. The march started at Piggly Wiggly on Oates St. and ended at Glanton Park behind the Hawk Houston Boys and Girls Club. There was music and the guest speaker was Rev. Reginald Jones of WTVY news. The Boys and Girls Club presented several honors to those who supported the painting of the facility and who put in work renovating the club. After the program was over for the Martin Luther King Celebration, the Boys and Girls Club had a ribbon cutting and a open house to show off the changes made to the club. All in all it was a wonderful event and I look forward to seeing what next year has to offer.
